Late Seating

Appropriate seating areas and times for latecomers are at the sole discretion of the director and will vary by production. Guests who arrive after the performance start will be directed to wait until an appropriate break and then be seated in designated late seating, other than the ticketed seat locations.

Electronic Devices

As a courtesy to the actors and other audience members, please turn off your watch alarm, beeper, and cell phone or set them to a non-audible mode, or you may be asked to leave the performance. This includes texting during performances.

Emergency Contact

Any guest who may need to be contacted during a performance should leave his/her name, theatre venue, seat location, and our telephone number (216)771-8403 with the babysitter or answering service.

Dress Code

Cleveland Play House does not have an official dress code. We want you to be comfortable, so casual attire is fine.

Children

Cleveland Play House and Playhouse Square pride themselves on offering a diverse selection of arts entertainment. Not all productions may appeal to or be appropriate for every person or for all ages. Guests are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the shows we offer in order to make informed decisions prior to purchasing tickets. 

We encourage parents to use their discretion when deciding if a show is appropriate for their child.

In general, and regardless of age, all children must have a ticket and be seated with an adult. Student tickets are available for $15 by using promo code STU.

Children under one year of age may sit on a lap, but will still require a ticket for admission.

Inclement Weather

Cleveland Play House does not cancel or reschedule performances or offer refunds due to inclement weather. Please see our policies on ticket exchanges, donations, and if you are a member, Missed Performance Options.

Coat Check

There is a coat rack located in the Allen Theatre lobby just past the House Manager's office and Men's Restroom. It is not maintained so any belongings left there are at your discretion. CPH is not responsible for any items that are lost or stolen. 

Refreshments/Concessions

We partner with Playhouse Square and Driftwood for our concessions. For most performances, concessions are available one hour prior to the performance and during intermission. All transactions inside the theaters will be cashless.  All food and beverage purchases must be made with a valid debit or credit card, or with mobile wallet options such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, and American Express are accepted at all of our theaters. For more information,  click here. 

Ticket Exchanges for CPH Members

CPH Members who are unable to attend scheduled performances may exchange their tickets for another performance of the same production. Please call the CPH Member Services at (216) 400-7096 to make arrangements, or log in to your account by clicking here. 

Exchanges are accepted up to 24 hours before the date and time on your tickets.

When exchanging into a higher-priced performance or seating area, the difference in cost is due at the time of the exchange. Refunds are not given for exchanges into lesser-priced performances or seating areas.

Ticket Exchanges for Single Ticket Holders

If you are not a CPH Member and need to exchange your tickets, please call Playhouse Square at (216) 241-6000 to discuss available options.

Show Cancelations

In the event a performance or production is canceled by Cleveland Play House, guests will be contacted via phone and email about further arrangements. Please ensure your contact information is up-to-date by logging into your online account, or by calling (216) 400-7096. 

Refunds

All ticket sales are final. Refunds, exchanges, or retroactive discounts are not possible, even when a performance is missed or forgotten. 

Lost Ticket Replacement

Tickets may be reprinted at the Will Call desk or digitally delivered to you via email at no charge. 

Electronic & Recording Devices

Cameras, camera phones, audio, video, and digital recorders, paging devices, and cell phones are not permitted in the theaters. Guests using these items may be ejected without a refund.

Backpacks & Large Bags

Handbags, backpacks, diaper bags, and cases may be inspected prior to entry. Large bags are not permitted in the theatre. Please leave these items in your car or at home.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to arrive and be in your seat before the show begins.

Firearms

Firearms are forbidden inside the theatres.

Smoking

Smoking is only permitted outside the building.

Lost Items

Items left in the theatres after performances are moved to the lost and found, located at Central Security at Playhouse Square; they can be contacted at (216) 640-8777. Cleveland Play House is not responsible for theft or damage to items left in the theatres or lost and found.
