Patrons with mobility or physical disabilities will find wheelchairs and accessible seat locations in all our theatres. Please arrive 30 minutes before your curtain time to ensure a Playhouse Square (PSQ) Red Coat usher will be present to assist you. Should you need a wheelchair provided to take you into the venue, a limited number of wheelchairs are available free of charge with no reservation required. To ensure your purchased seat is within the accessible seating areas of the theatre, contact our ticket office directly at 216.241.6000.
Wheelchairs can be accessed at the following locations:
CPH has partnered with The HeArd, Theatrical Interpreting Services of Cleveland to provide select ASL-interpreted performances during our 2025-26 Season. Guests who would like to attend these performances should use the ASL promo code when purchasing their tickets to ensure they will be in view of the interpreters.
ASL Performances:
At our English Open Caption Performances, a screen placed near the stage displays the spoken dialogue as well as the sounds heard during the live production. This allows patrons with hearing disabilities the opportunity to see the stage action and not miss a single word.

Assistive listening devices (ALDs) amplify and improve the sounds that come from the stage. The receivers operate on radio channels unique to the Allen, Outcalt, and Helen theatres and are heard through headphones. Patrons who would like an ALD to enhance their experience can acquire a device free of charge from the House Manager's office before their performance. ALDs are designed to be used without hearing aids. Patrons who use hearing aids and cochlear implants with a "T" switch (telecoil) should request a neck loop when they arrive at the theatre. The neck loop will work while your hearing aids remain in place.
Patrons who are blind or have low vision can listen to a detailed narration of the visual elements of the performance, provided by a trained describer through a small radio receiver. This service offers real-time descriptions of onstage action, sets, costumes, gestures, and other important visual details during moments when there is no dialogue. Please contact boxoffice@clevelandplayhouse.com or call 216-400-7023 when purchasing tickets. We ask that you request services at least three weeks prior to your desired performance to ensure we can secure a describer for you.
CPH provides sensory-friendly kits at each performance to support audience members with sensory needs. These kits include the following:
Patrons can also request noise-canceling headphones as needed. Patrons who would like a sensory-friendly kit, please contact boxoffice@clevelandplayhouse.com or call 216-400-7023 to reserve a kit at your time of purchase. Your reserved kit will be available at the box office. After the performance, all items are to be returned to the House Manager’s office.
A Relaxed Performance is an inclusive theater experience designed for anyone who benefits from a flexible and supportive environment, including individuals with sensory sensitivities, neurodivergence, or those who prefer a more relaxed setting. The performance presents the full artistic vision of the production, with minor adjustments to technical elements such as lighting and sound. House lights will be raised slightly, and intense sound effects may be mitigated, among other small adjustments.
Patrons are welcome to move in and out of the theater as needed, and designated break areas are available in the lobby. Sensory items for both adults and children can be picked up at the box office before the performance, and additional items will be available from our front of house staff during the show.
