Theatre has the power to make a deep and lasting impact on our lives, and CPH makes a positive impact on our community through the important stories that we tell, the exceptional artists we nurture and the young people we help educate. We cannot do this alone. Our ticket revenue only covers half of the cost of all the programs we offer. The generosity of our donors who invest in our work, help us achieve Passion and Purpose in every Performance and touch the lives of thousands through our suite of 11 comprehensive education programs at CPH.
For each and every performance, CPH transports audiences to another time and place, thanks to the artistry and craftsmanship of many people both on the stage and behind the scenes. From the costumes designed and sewn in our costume shop to the sets constructed in our state-of-the-art production center to the talented actors, designers and directors we hire, your support ensures we are able to deliver the variety and quality of entertainment our audiences expect from one of the nation’s premier theatres.
In 1933, CPH was the first regional theatre in the country to offer educational programming to compliment theatre programming. Today, we offer an array of programs that serve more than 27,000 students annually. Using theatrical techniques to address topics such as bullying, cultural differences, friendship and family, each interaction with students focuses on building appropriate social and emotional skills.
Throughout the season, we invite audiences to delve deeper into each play by joining us during InsideCPH events, a suite of free programs including Pre-Show Conversations, post-show TalkBacks, Tech Nights, Behind-the-Scenes events and our live dramaturgy and audience engagement stations in the Kalberer Lobby. Support from our sponsors and donors enables us to keep all of these programs free to the community.
During the 2015-16 Centennial Season, an unprecedented event in American regional theatre, CPH embarked on a four-year, $12 million community effort to ensure that our next 100 years will be bold, collaborative, and forward-thinking. Your support of Cleveland Play House will help ensure that we remain a community asset for the next 100 years.
