Johnson’s window is closing to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and win the American people over to the side of momentous social change. Backroom deals and showdowns between the infamous and the influential take center stage in this absorbing Tony Award-winning drama. Neighborhoods change, but do people? This ferociously smart and pulverizingly funny satire—inspired by the groundbreaking play A Raisin in the Sun—reveals how people in one house battle to protect or advance their way of life through 50 years of societal changes. The Washington Post calls it “one of the feistiest, funniest evenings in years.”

The hunting and haunting of the heir to the Baskerville fortune proves the most puzzling—and dangerous!—case in the illustrious careers of Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr. Watson. Cleveland favorite Ken Ludwig is back with his madcap adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mystery, transforming The Hound of the Baskervilles into an all-out comedic theatrical adventure. Full of humor, horror, and plenty of stage magic, five actors play nearly 40 roles in this kooky and spooky caper that will have you howling with laughter.

Buckle up. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. Li’l Bit takes us on a no-holds-barred trip back in time to her adolescence in 1960s Maryland and her complicated relationship with an older man. A deeply compassionate look at how we are shaped by the people who hurt us, How I Learned to Drive masterfully veers in and out of personal memory and deftly traverses comedy, drama, and farce. CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley steers Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning contemporary masterpiece.

In 1834, Afong Moy is brought to the United States from Beijing and put on display as the “Chinese Lady” for the American public. Over the next 55 years, she performs an ethnicity that both defines and challenges her own view of herself, as she witnesses stunning transformations in the American identity. Inspired by the true story of America’s first female Chinese immigrant, playwright Lloyd Suh unearths hidden history and spins a tale of dark poetic whimsy.

To make his next big deal, an up-and-coming Philadelphia real estate developer needs to acquire—and level—a beloved family-owned soul food establishment. But as he’s taken through the restaurant’s incredible 100-year history, the present becomes entwined with the past, and the tale emerges of the escaped southern migrants who risked everything to build and celebrate their new life up north through cooking. With a live band on stage, cast members will perform select songs from this dynamic new score composed by American songwriter Nolan Williams, Jr., an emerging new voice in musical theatre.
