(Cleveland, OH) Cleveland Play House announced today a change in programming to its 2022-2023 season lineup. The previously announced holiday production of Light It Up! will no longer be produced this December.
All current ticket holders will be provided with a full refund of their purchases.
“We are deeply saddened by this unexpected news,” explained Mark Cuddy, CPH Interim Artistic & Managing Director. “While we will not be able to produce Light It Up! for a second year, we are developing some exciting ideas to help others celebrate joy during the upcoming holiday season.”
In response to this change of programming, CPH will announce a series of holiday events to bring Northeast Ohio communities together in the Allen Theatre at Playhouse Square.
Additionally, Cleveland Play House will present the annual Festival of Trees in the Allen Theatre Complex from December 3-22, 2022.
Light It Up! was commissioned by and developed at Cleveland Play House in 2021 and was created by Tony Award-winner Jason Michael Webb and CWRU/CPH MFA Alumnus Lelund Durond Thompson. Performances of the world premiere production ran in December 2021.
The decision to halt the anticipated revival comes at the request of the creators due to their own schedule and creative conflicts.
Further details on these holiday events and more will be announced in November.
