Cleveland Play House is America's first regional theatre, serving millions of people since its inception in 1915. The Play House is dedicated to its mission: To produce plays of the highest professional standards that inspire, stimulate, and entertain our diverse audiences and to conduct training and educational programs that enhance the quality of life for those we serve and help to ensure the future of theatre. By supporting The Play House, you are helping us reach out to our community with top-flight artistry and outstanding educational programs that benefit Clevelanders of all ages and from all walks of life.
The Play House offers an array of benefits which makes getting involved rewarding and enjoyable. Benefits are offered at varying levels of support and appeal to a wide range of interests. The types of support are described below:
Individual Giving
Since its founding in 1915, Cleveland Play House has been embraced by a generous community of donors committed to supporting the country's first professional regional theatre. Nearly 50% of all contributions to the Annual Fund come from individuals and families. Our donors make gifts at a wide variety of levels-and every gift makes a difference.
Donors to the Annual Fund also enjoy special benefits at each level, including special behind-the-scenes events and recognition. Donor gift levels:
- $50 - $99
- $100 - $249
- $250 - $499
- $500 - $999
- $1,000 - $1,249
Leadership Society involvement has many benefits, including recognition in playbills, invitations to special receptions, and exclusive events with the Artistic Director. Leadership Society levels:
- $1,250 - $4,999
- $5,000 - $9,999
- $10,000 - $14,999
- $15,000 - $250,000
A Word on Corporate Matching Gifts - Cleveland Play House applies all corporate matching gifts towards the individual donors' gifts, which may move them into a higher giving category. Some companies provide this benefit for both current and retired employees. Please check with your company's human resources department to see if the matching gift program includes gifts to Cleveland Play House.
Corporate Giving
The plays and programs of Cleveland Play House contribute to local economic vitality, reaching approximately $20 million each year through direct spending, as a leading employer, and through indirect spending generated by visitors to the theatre and the developing neighborhoods. The corporate gifts to our Annual Fund and various sponsorship opportunities support efforts to make Northeast Ohio a culturally enriching place to live and work.
Corporate Giving levels:
- Benefactor: $250-$499
- Associate: $500-$999
- Director: $1,000-$2,499
- Producer: $2,500-$4,999
- Evening Sponsor: $5,000-$9,999
- Weekend Sponsor: $10,000 and above
Sponsorship Opportunities - Cleveland Play House has established a national reputation as one of the finest regional theatres in the country, with a loyal, diverse, and upscale core audience, and more than 200,000 visitors to the theatre complex each year. Sponsorships are available for theatre productions, events, special projects, educational programs and other new initiatives. Each sponsorship is customized to meet specific interests and needs of the company.

Foundation Giving
Cleveland Play House receives generous support from foundations, including many that were founded in Cleveland and have served generations. Foundation Giving is part of the full range of community support that helps us produce professional level plays and educational programs that are made affordable for all ages in the diverse communities of Northeast Ohio.
Planned Giving
For many supporters of Cleveland Play House, a planned gift is a way to make a significant and lasting gift. By making a bequest to the theatre, you are assuring that the Play House will continue to inspire, stimulate and entertain audiences for generations to come, as well as maintain its high artistic standards that are recognized locally, nationally, and internationally.
As you consider your estate, you may want to consider giving options that benefit both you and Cleveland Play House. A bequest may be in the form of cash, securities, real estate, tangible personal property, or other assets. To ensure that your exact intentions are carried out, wills, codicils, and trusts should be prepared by or with the advice of your attorney and financial advisor.
