Support the CPH Apprentice Program with a donation to The Kalberer Challenge and the Susan E. Watson Cleveland Play House Adult Apprentice Trust Fund
Walter and Jean Kalberer have generously established the Susan E. Watson Cleveland Play House Adult Apprentice Trust Fund in memory of Susan, a close family friend who had a passion for theatre. Susan was a CPH Curtain Puller in the 80s. She stoically battled cancer, dying at age 24. The Kalberer Challenge will provide funding for the Apprentice Program and adult education at CPH in perpetuity. With the intent to inspire and motivate others to join in building the endowment, the Kalberers will match any contributions on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $1.5 million, for a total of $3 million dollars.
It is the Kalberers’ belief that the art of live theatre is an imperative aspect of an educated, healthy, and thriving community. Their hope is to assist in supporting, enhancing, and advancing live theatre throughout the country, presenting it as a valued necessity in all of our lives.
