Description: The Stage Management apprentice works alongside multiple stage manager and assistant stage manager or production assistant teams throughout the production process. The apprentice gains training in and exposure to the responsibilities of a professional stage manager in the varied performance settings at CPH. The apprentice will help generate paperwork, assist with prep week, running rehearsals, recording blocking, tracking props, being on book, and facilitating communication between production shops, director, designers, performers, and crew, while learning about the Actors Equity Association-LORT contract rules and regulations. Based on candidate’s interest, opportunities to earn EMC points are available. Work hours vary depending on the needs of the production but typically reflect the standard stage management work week, Tuesday through Sunday rehearsal and performance schedules.
Applicants for this apprenticeship should be recent graduates with a desire to obtain professional experience in stage management. Preferred applicants have prior stage management experience, are flexible, self-motivated, organized, and can maintain a balanced, professional approach in a high-intensity environment. Diverse theatrical work experience is also an asset.
