Theatre Thursday: The Art of Connection
Thursday, February 18 | 7:00 PM EST
On Demand Saturday, February 20 - Sunday, February 21
A Live Interactive Virtual Program from Cleveland Play House
Focusing on CPH’s core values of Artistry, Community and Life-Long Learning.
Make a match this February at Theatre Thursday! We’ve paired four of our favorite playwrights with a specific Cleveland artwork, asking each to write a brand-new short play inspired by the piece. But like with any juicy romance, we’re adding a dash of intrigue — and keeping our matches a mystery! Audience members will work together to read the plays and uncover the creative couplings. Get ready for a fun, unique night that explores the love affair between theatre and visual art.
To play along, be sure to print out or read the scripts before the show begins. Scripts will be sent with your Cleveland Play House Order Receipt once your registration has been placed.
No printer? No problem! You can view the scripts by pulling them up on your screen during the event. We’ll let you know when!
Hosted by Laura Kepley
Our four playwrights are:
- Philip Dawkins: commissioned to write two monologues for CPH’s CARE Curriculum.
- Crystal Finn: appeared in CPH’s productions of Fairfield (2015) and Rich Girl (2013). She performed her original solo show Becoming Liv Ullmann in 2013 New Ground Theatre Festival (NGTF)
- Nandita Shenoy: appeared as Jevne in CPH’s world premiere production of Tiny Houses (2019)
- Lloyd Suh: was the recipient of the 2017 Roe Green Award and workshopped his play The Chinese Lady as part of the 2017 NGTF. He also was commissioned to write two monologues for CPH’s CARE Curriculum.
Theatre Thursday is a monthly interactive virtual events which will allow audiences to experience the artistry of CPH, connect directly with the makers of our work, and converse with staff and other audience members about the impact of our artistic work in our beloved community.
Theatre Thursday is for CPH fans and anyone interested in learning more about the work of America’s first regional theatre -- onstage, backstage, in the classroom and in the community.
