ART IN DEMOCRACY — A CPH Tradition for the Fourth of July As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we’re reflecting on one of Cleveland Play House’s earliest and most enduring beliefs: Art in Democracy. Since our founding in 1915, CPH’s mission has been rooted in the idea that theatre is a public trust—created with the community, for the community. Our founders believed that a healthy democracy thrives when people gather, share stories, challenge ideas, and imagine new possibilities together. Theatre was their way of strengthening civic life, inviting every voice into the conversation. This Independence Day, we honor that legacy. We celebrate the freedom to tell our stories. We celebrate the power of community. We celebrate Art in Democracy. Happy Fourth of July from Cleveland Play House.
