The Little Mermaid is an imaginative retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen tale in which a young girl learns the beauty and power of her own voice. Children will be treated to an intimate performance filled with sensory experiences.
Nina Domingue: (The Little Mermaid and others) made her Cleveland stage debut as a member of the “Ohio Company” performing in the Theatre for Children series at Cleveland Play House in 1999. In 2008 Domingue was commissioned by CPH to write and perform A Jewel of a Tale, an adaptation of Aesop fables and Anansi folktales that is still work-shopped in classrooms throughout the Cleveland area. Domingue has performed nationally and internationally for the past 16 years, making her off Broadway and National Black Theatre Festival debuts in It Hasn’t Always Been This Way by Ntozake Shange, directed by Diane McIntyre and produced by Woodie King, Jr. She was named Best Actress in a Play in 2005 by the Cleveland Theater Collective for her work as “the lady in red” in Karamu House’s production of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, and she has a one woman show entitled Mo Pas Conin which opened to great success at Cleveland Public Theatre in 2006. She has performed at Great Lakes Theater Festival and other venues throughout the city. She had a CPH FusionFest reading of her solo piece entitled Wade in the Water. The play deals with her family’s experiences pre and post hurricane Katrina. Ms. Domingue was a member of CPH’s Playwrights’ Unit and is a guest artist at Cleveland School of the Arts. Carolyn Dickey: (Costume Designer) is currently in her twenty-second season at Cleveland Play House where she is the assistant costume shop manager. Dickey designed costumes for many productions in CPH’s Theatre for Children series including The Little Mermaid, Huck Finn, A Jewel of a Tale, The Emperor’s Groovy New Clothes, Bunnicula, Wind in the Willows, Balto, and John Henry. Locally she has designed costumes for Dobama Theatre, Cleveland School of the Arts, and Cleveland SignStage Theatre. For CPH, Boll has designed lighting for In the Next Room, or the vibrator play; many Fusionfest productions including Stew and the Negro Problem; and for the Case Western Reserve University/CPH MFA Acting Program, The Winter's Tale, In Arabia We'd all be Kings, An Orchard, Cloud 9, and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. In Cleveland he has designed at Cain Park, Cleveland Public Theatre, Cleveland Museum of Art, Karamu, Dobama, and Beck Center. Off-Broadway credits include The Moliere Cycle, Classic Stage Company; Songs for a New World, George Street Playhouse; Dog Sees God, SoHo Playhouse; and as associate lighting designer, The Moonlight Room, Beckett Theatre. Pamela Dipasquale: (Director/Playwright) Selected regional directing credits include Julius Caesar, Macbeth, and The Tempest at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival and The Diary of Anne Frank, The Little Prince, The Miracle Worker, and Mother Hicks at Children's Theatre of Maine. Previous stage adaptations include Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, Stella Luna by Janell Cannon, We Were There, Too! By Phillip Hoose, Stop Pretending by Sonya Sones, and On The Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
