Tech Specs

Sound and Projections is part of the Production Department and is responsible for executing the sound plot created by the Sound Designer and the projection plot created by the Projection Designer. The Sound and Projections staff hang, cable and focus all speakers and projector used in the show as well as all sound and video monitors needed by the actors and crew. They are also responsible for setting up and recording voice overs and work with composers to record small musical arrangements or arrange recording studio rentals for larger projects.

Facility Info

The Allen Theatre has a permanent FOH sound system consisting of a QSC Wideline 8 Line array, EAW proscenium left and right speakers, subs and side and rear speakers.

The Outcalt Theatre has ten powered QSC speakers that can be hung depending on the configuration of the stage. Both theaters use a Digico SD-9 as their sound console and QLab 2 as their audio playback.

The Helen Theatre uses a variety of speakers from our stock and an analog console for mixing.

Sound and Projections has a variety of loose speakers, microphones and audio tools for use in each space. Please contact the Sound and Projections Supervisor for the latest inventory.

Our video playback system is Dataton's WATCHOUT 5.2. The core of our projection system is built on our two PT-D12000 Panasonic projectors. Please contact the Sound and Projections Supervisor for a complete inventory of video gear.

Staff Descriptions

The Sound and Projections Supervisor is responsible for prepping, installing, maintaining and striking the sound and video systems used for all CPH and CWRU/CPH MFA productions. They also source and rent any wireless mics or backline musical instruments and equipment needed for musicals.

The Associate Sound and Projections Supervisor works with the Sound and Projections Supervisor in realizing the visions of the directors and designers for CPH and CWRU/CPH MFA productions. This includes budgeting, prepping, installing, maintaining and striking the sound and projection systems needed. They also assist in sourcing and renting any equipment needed for our productions.

The Sound Technician is a full-time seasonal position and assists the Sound and Projection Supervisor with prepping, installing, maintaining and striking the sound and video systems. The Sound Technician is also the Sound Board Operator and runs the audio for all CPH main stage productions and does the live mix for musicals.
