POLICIES & SERVICES

Late Seating

Patrons who arrive late for performances will need to wait until an appropriate break in the performance and then may be seated in alternate seats. After intermission, patrons may be reseated in their ticketed seat location. Appropriate seating for latecomers is at the sole discretion of the director of each production and the House Manager.

Emergency Contact

As a courtesy to the actors and other audience members, please turn off your watch alarm, beeper, and cell phone, or set them to a non-audible mode.

Any patron who may need to be contacted should leave his/her name, theatre, and seat location, as well as our telephone number (216) 795-7000, ext. 0 with the babysitter or answering service.

Dress Code

The Cleveland Play House does not have an official dress code. We recommend business casual to dressy.

Inclement Weather

The Cleveland Play House does not cancel or reschedule performances or offer refunds due to inclement weather. Please see our policies on ticket exchanges, donations, and, if you are a subscriber, Missed Performance Insurance.

Refreshments

For most performances, snack bar, beverage and cocktail service is available beginning one hour prior to the performance and during intermission. For added convenience, order and pay for your intermission drinks before the show. Your drinks will then be ready for you at the break. Beverages and snacks are intended for the lobby areas and not permitted in the theatres.

Ticket Exchanges

If you are unable to attend your scheduled performance of one of our productions, you may exchange your tickets for another performance of the same production. It is now easier than ever to exchange. Just give the ticket office a call with your tickets in hand. See the instructions below or on the back of your tickets:

Exchanges are accepted until one hour before the date and time on your tickets.

To ensure adjacent seating with other theatre-goers in your group, exchanges must be submitted together. Exchanges received separately will be seated as close together as possible.

If exchanging to a higher-priced performance, the full difference in cost is due at the time of the exchange. Refunds are NOT given for exchanges into a lesser-priced performance. For non-subscribers, a $5.00 per ticket exchange fee will be charged and is payable at the time of the exchange.

In person:
8500 Euclid Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44106-0189

By phone:
You may exchange your tickets by phone up to one hour before your scheduled performance.  Call us at 216-795-7000, option 4.  You will need to have your tickets handy at the time of the call, as the ticket service agent will be asking you for the bar code number of each ticket that needs to be exchanged.

By fax:
216-791-2929

No seats are assigned–nor can any be held–until the Box Office receives a photocopy of the tickets you are exchanging.

Write 'VOID' on each ticket before faxing.  Fax a copy of the tickets along with the day, date, and time of your newly chosen performance.  You must also include a credit card number and expiration date if your exchange is subject to fees/upgrades.

Your order is usually filled within one hour.  If there are more than four days until your new performance, the tickets will be mailed to you.

It is suggested that you print and retain a copy of your fax exchange request.

Lost Ticket Replacement

On the date of your scheduled performance, if your tickets are misplaced, call the Box Office at (216) 795-7000, option 4, and request replacements. A duplicate set of tickets will be waiting for you at the Box Office at no additional charge.

Ticket Donation

Subscribers that are unable to use their tickets may donate them back to us. The Cleveland Play House recognizes this as a charitable contribution. You may donate your tickets until one hour prior to the performance. We will mail you one receipt for all ticket donations made during the calendar year the following January. To donate your tickets, simply call the Box Office at (216) 795-7000, option 4.
