Though these actors are returning to familiar roles, every year means a new crop of talented young actors playing Ralphie, Randy and the rest. In this informative and engaging workshop, Christopher and Madeleine share their experiences with introducing new cast members to a perennial favorite. They'll also share with us the warm-ups and focus exercises that they employ to keep the show pitch-perfect night after night.
A Way with Words
Award-winning playwright George Brant (Grounded) has a way with words. George is master craftsman in the field of playwriting and has had his words spoken on stages as near as Cleveland and as far away as China. In this up close and personal look at his art participants will gain insight into George Brant's craft, his varied stories and how he pens his multidimensional characters. We will also gain an appreciation of how George crafted the real life personages of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Marie Knight from Marie and Rosetta.
A New Day
For many years, an atypical name could leave actors pigeon-holed in staid and stereotypical roles, but thankfully we are seeing that trend turn as more theatre companies increasingly value non-traditional casting. Join members of the cast of The Invisible Hand as they share their profound insights on the challenges of developing a performing career, booking work, and how social equity initiatives in the theatre have had an impact on their casting opportunities in a dynamic range of roles.
Get Up and Sing!
In their careers, the actors of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee have participated in hundreds of musical theatre auditions, and these are very different from the standard theatrical audition. With the help of live accompaniment and participants, these performers will share their own anecdotes and provide insights - and give us all a taste of the musical theatre audition process!
Hear the Moves
The world of The Royale is both a percussive and poignant environment with its own unique vocabulary of movement. In this highly participatory workshop, cast members will lead participants through a series of movement excercises that will provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of the physical lyricism of Director Robert Barry Fleming's production.
