The Cleveland Play House and Great Lakes Theatre Festival announce their annual open auditions, scheduled for Sunday, May 11 and Monday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Cleveland Play House, 8500 Euclid Avenue.

Anyone who wishes to audition is invited to do so, though the auditions will be by appointment only. Those who are not members of Actors’ Equity Association will be given appointment times once all AEA members have been accommodated. Members of AEA are encouraged to come Monday, May 12. To schedule an appointment, please call (440) 779-2001 starting Saturday, April 26 at 10 a.m. Leave your name, phone number, preferred day, and whether you would prefer a morning or afternoon appointment. You will receive a call back with your appointment time.

For the audition, you will be given three minutes to do as you wish. Most people split the time between two contrasting monologues. You are also welcome to sing. If you would like piano accompaniment, please schedule your appointment for the afternoon.

The theatres will not see children under 18. Each theatre will announce auditions for its respective Christmas presentation at a later time.

The auditions are being generously facilitated by Actors' Equity Association, in cooperation with Cleveland Theatre Collective. Artistic directors from other theatres which offer AEA contracts will be invited to attend.

The Cleveland Play House is committed to casting locally, in New York, and occasionally in other cities.

For actors in the Cleveland area:

The Cleveland Play House annual open call for all AEA and non-AEA actors will take place in the spring of 2008, as detailed above.

SCRIPT SUBMISSIONS

While The Cleveland Play House does not accept unsolicited manuscripts, we do look forward to receiving a synopsis, 10- page sample, and resume from anyone interested in having their work considered. We're looking for plays of any stripe that are either previously produced or are still looking for their first production. We accept proposals on a year-round basis.
