The Engaging Corey Atkins

Kudos go out to one of our newest CPH staff members: Corey Atkins, our Artistic Associate—Engagement. On April 20 he was named one of the 2012 NEO "Top 25 Under 35 Movers and Shakers" by the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club.
This award was given in recognition for 25 of Northeast Ohio’s best young leaders under 35 years old who demonstrate a track record of involvement, civic vision, accomplishments, and overall impact in their respective area of achievement.

When Corey Atkins was brought on board at the Cleveland Play House to head up our new engagement initiative, he was one of only two in such an innovative position in the country. After just... more

Thanks to our Volunteers

Thanks to our Volunteers

Did you know that April is National Volunteer Month? No arts organization can survive for almost 100 years without significant support from the community it serves, and CPH is no exception. On behalf of everyone on staff, we want to thank OUR volunteers who help make what we do possible!

Meet Pamela DiPasquale, new Director of Education

October 28, 2010 by clevelandplayhouse in Meet the Staff

Meet Pamela DiPasquale, new Director of Education We took a few moments to talk to our new Director of Education, Pamela DiPasquale. Read on!

1) Where did you work before CPH and what made you come here?

For the past four years I worked as the Education Director at Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Louisville. Prior to that I was the Artistic Director for the Children's Theatre of Maine in Portland. I chose to come to The Cleveland Play House because of its strong commitment, both in mission and in leadership, to education. I am also thrilled to be part of the team that transitions The Cleveland Play House and its programs into the 21st Century.

2) We offer a lot of great education...

Who is CPH? Spotlight on Mary Schilling-Martin, Wig Master

September 29, 2010 by in Meet the Staff

Who is CPH? Spotlight on Mary Schilling-Martin, Wig Master Directing, acting, designing and even singing are all artistic attributes our talented Wig Master Mary Schilling-Martin possesses.  Although she originally wanted to work in radio, Mary’s college experiences in theatre and speech programs shifted her interests into acting and backstage work. “The two programs were connected and suddenly I had an acting career - I loved it,” she confesses. “Once I was Juliet for a singing & dancing high school Shakespeare tour.” It was while working in the costume shop for the Denver Center Theatre Company after college that Mary became fascinated by theatrical wigs. “I would volunteer to help him [the Wig Master] after my day in the costume shop so I could learn,” Mary explains. “The next year he hired me as his... more

Meet Our New Associate Artistic Director

August 28, 2010 by in Meet the Staff

Meet Our New Associate Artistic Director Our new Associate Artistic Director Laura Kepley will be starting on September 1st. To welcome Laura into the Play House family and learn more about her,  we asked a few intriguing questions.

Q: How did you get your start in theatre?

A: It all started with a fourth grade camp production of Hansel and Gretel in which I was cast as Hansel.  At first I was upset and confused by this "gender-blind" casting but quickly got over the fact that I didn't get to wear a dress as soon as I discovered that Hansel got to be smart and make choices that drove the action.  I was hooked! I continued acting in school productions as I was blessed to go to a public middle school... more

Playing a Role in Summer

July 07, 2010 by in Meet the Staff

Playing a Role in Summer Yes, we're "dark" during the summer - no CPH productions are on stage right now. But that doesn't mean we don't have things to do. We plan for the new season, and we couldn't do it without the help of our interns! We are excited to have 7 new interns this summer. Congrats to:

Carly Lyons - Marketing
N’Jeri Nicholson - Marketing
Elicia Bryant – Education
Rebecca Davidson – Education
Chamois Crookshanks – Development
Rebecca McBride – Development
Steven Higginbotham - Artistic

The Cleveland Play House internship program offers advanced training opportunities in production and administration for college students interested in a career in theatre. CPH interns learn directly about their area of interest by engaging in the day to day activities of the theatre and working alongside highly skilled theatre professionals.more
