CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program Grad Gets TonyŽ Award Nomination

Once, a charming romance based on an Oscar-winning indie film, led the pack in Tony Award nominations announced Tuesday with 11 nods. One of those nominations we're especially proud of here at CPH - Elizabeth Davis, a graduate of the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting program Class of 2006 - received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical.

The CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program is charged with training actors for the professional theater. The fact that the program is housed in a professional theater adds an expectation of high standards of artistry in the work audiences see on the CPH stage.
For the students to have experiences that will give them the tools necessary to meet the needs of the profession, the training has to encompass a broad range of material and performance styles.

A Look Inside the 'In Arabia We'd All Be Kings' Set

The upcoming CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Program production of In Arabia We’d All Be Kings takes inspiration from various places in order to capture the feel of New York City in the 1990s. In the midst of Rudy Giuliani’s efforts to clean up the city, the play centers around a local bar where the main characters find solace from their daily struggles.
The production’s Scenic Designer Tiffany Scribner used a variety of materials to capture the essence of this time in New York City commenting, “The main locations in the play are the bar and exterior street scenes. The bar, which used to be a very beautiful piece of carpentry, is now a dirty, gritty, thing with names carved in it, cigarette burns... more
